About Us

I'm Marc Mumby, founder of M-Two Design; a freelance graphic design company in Dallas. My goal is to provide high quality graphic design services at affordable prices. I work in print and digital formats, and specialize in consolidated designs that convey customer's messages clearly and concisely — in print and on the web.

Although I'm ready to tackle most any design project, I'm particularly well suited to projects involving:

  • biomedicine and biomedical research
  • biotechnology
  • pharmaceuticals and drug development
  • higher education
  • sciences
  • health and fitness
  • bicycling
  • hiking and outdoors

Professional experience

I am currently a faculty member at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where I teach and direct a research lab. I have published over a hundred articles and taught pharmacology (the science of drug action) to thousands of medical and physician assistant students. I believe that graphic design is another form of teaching. The goal is to effectively communicate ideas. Development of visual aids for teaching (drawings, photographs, and animations) led to my interest in graphic design. After many years at the same job, I needed an additional interest. So, I started this freelance graphic design business, which allows me to broaden my horizons and pursue something I truly enjoy.

Design experience

I have been responsible for the development, layout, submission, and revision of over a hundred articles in scientific journals. This has included preparation of text (including typography) and technical figures using graphics software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Flash).

For the last three years, I have been in charge of graphic design and web site development for the Department of Pharmacology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Print projects include posters, announcements, and brochures. These efforts involve coordination with members of the department and guest speakers to generate interesting and relevant designs, followed by work with our print shop to generate layouts, color matching, and typography. A second effort has involved design and development of web sites for research labs in our deparment. I use Dreamweaver, Flash, and direct coding in XHTML and CSS. I also manage the development and maintenance of the departmental web presence within the university's content management system (CMS).

I have also designed and developed web sites and print advertising for businesses in the Dallas area.

Bicycling, fitness, and outdoor sports

I'm seriously involved in multiple outdoor/recreational sports. I've been doing graphic design for several cycling organizations in the Dallas area including the Plano Bicycle Association, Bike DFW, and the Dallas Area Tandem Enthusiasts. This has included editing and layout of a monthly newsletter using InDesign.
